A Resounding Endorsement!
I guess there is no better recommendation for Putting By The Numbers
than a former college golfer and a Q school competitor with a very low handicap. I provide Todd's commentary below because he is a very serious recreational and amateur golfer who is always seeking ways to improve his game. Read on!
I have read Putting by the Numbers and applied its methods the past month. It is an incredible book for the avid golfer. I highly recommend it. Concise and easy to read, it can be read in just one or two evenings. The simple putting method presented has added an incredible dimension to my putting. I have been a feel putter most of my life. The putting by the number's method very quickly validates my feel. It adds a layer of confirmation and validation in my putting stroke that sends my putting confidence through the roof. We all know how much confidence is important to putting. Long lag putts are closer to the hole and mid-range 15-25 footers are even closer. I am getting the ball to the hole more often, never up..never in, and simply much more accurate overall.
Every golfer needs this putting tool in their golf bag. Whether high acceleration - punch style putter, or low acceleration - pendulum style putter, the method works. It promotes a smoother, more consistent putting stroke. The author is correct, the arithmetic is very, very simple. It is fast to learn and once you use it a hand full of times, it becomes even faster to implement on the course. I highly recommend this book - low handicapper or high handicapper, any putting style.
